A day at the Alamo

Ken and I spent the last of October visiting Jeff, Emily, and boys in Texas. It was so good to see them. It had been awhile. Jeff and family moved to their new house in Katy, Texas (just outside of Houston) the weekend before we arrived. Ken only got to spend the weekend, but I got to stay and play for over a week. On Saturday, we drove over to San Antonio for the day. We visited the Alamo and rode a boat down the river in the middle of the city. It was beautiful! So here are some pictures from our trip. This first one is of the Anderson boys.
Jeff and Emily and Brevin and Keaton stand under one of the huge oak trees at the Alamo.
Keaton and Brevin playing in their upstairs family area. They are such great little boys.

The boys had their haircut during the visit. I was going to post the first picture I took there, but Keaton's face was so sad. Look how handsome he is with his new do.

Brevin in his new room with his new haircut. Actually when they cut his hair, they styled it with the front poking up and he looked so cute. He was concerned that night at bath time, that he would get his new hair wet.

What a blessing grandchildren are (their parents, too). We love them all.

In the mood for Christmas

It snowed a little this last weekend. Not enough to really stay on the ground, but enough to make me pull out the Christmas music. (Ken only lets me play it when he is gone).
I've decided my love for Christmas goes back to my childhood. Wonderful memories of tinsel on the tree, the vinyl smell of a new doll, Alan sneaking out to see what Santa brought.

We would be up in the early, early morning. After seeing what we got, we would head out into the snow to traipse (is that a word?) through the barrow pit to Grandma Batt's house to show her our Christmas treasures. What keeps me loving Christmas now is the chance to be with family (my own and my extended). I have been so blessed to be part of a family that I love so much. Thought you might enjoy a few pictures from my memory lane.
My three brothers.

Our annual first day of school picture. Every year was the same with us squinting as Mom had us looking into the sun .

Am I really a dinosaur?

I've decided the only way to have any control over what is posted on my blog is to start writing myself. Then maybe my blog imposters will stop.

First, a disclaimer. Don't expect anything clever or witty. It isn't going to happen.

We have had Halee and her two children here for the last two weeks. It has been so fun. We took them to the airport yesterday so it is really quiet here today. I had forgotten how much energy it takes to chase a two year old around (and Madelynn is a very active two year old). So today I am using my day of rest to do just that--rest.

One day this week at nap time, Madelynn and I were racing to the bed to read her books. I yelled, "last one on the bed is a turkey". After we hit the bed I asked her who the turkey was. She turned to me and said, "You're a dinosaur, I the turkey". Halee thought it was really funny, but I am wondering at this child's perceptiveness. I am starting to feel a little like a dinosaur.

Here are a few pictures of our fun two weeks with Halee, Madelynn, and Paul:

Day 52

Well, it is day 52 and there is still no sign of Nancy. I've tried crying and begging and pleading, but nothing can convince her to write on me. Therefore, I have taken things into my own hands or keys and have decided to start posting things that I think she would like.

First, here are some pictures of Nancy's youngest son, Klint. Klint is on a mission in Atlanta Georgia. He seems to be doing well.

And Finally, in a blatant attempt to kiss Nancy's rear and convince her to write on me.
